First appearing as an adversary to the Onibaku, together he and Saejima make up the Kamakura Mad-Dogs. The two friends hold a vicious reputation in Shonan, and are renowned for being the strongest at Tsujido High School before Eikichi and Ryuji transfer. Though originally very arrogant, Kamata is the first to accept their defeat to the Onibaku following their fight and adopts a general change in attitude.
